Tourist (90-days)
Designed for those who wish to enter Myanmar for leisure, sightseeing, or visiting friends and family:
- Validity: Valid for entering Myanmar within 3 months from the date of issue.
- Duration: Once you enter Myanmar, you can stay for up to 28 days.
- Extension: No extension of stay is permitted.

- Photograph taken within the last six months
- Travel booking confirmation
- Proof of accommodation in Myanmar, e.g. Accommodation bookings, invitation letters from family/friends in Myanmar
Business (90-days)
Designed for individuals who plan to stay in Myanmar for an extended period for various professional purposes. This document can be extended indefinitely, making it a popular choice for expatriates.
- Validity: Valid for entering Myanmar within 3 months from the date of issue.
- Duration: Once you enter Myanmar, you can stay for up to 70 days.
- Extension: Can be extended and converted into a multiple-entry document after arrival in Myanmar for:
- 3 month
- 6 months
- 12 months
- Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document
- Photograph taken within the last six months
- Letter of Invitation from a registered company in Myanmar
- Registration document of the inviting company (Certificate of Incorporation or Certificate of Registration of Branch Office)
- Extract of the inviting company.
Long-term Documents:
Social: Granted to foreign family members of Myanmar citizens, allowing a stay of up to 70 days per entry, with the option to extend.
Dependent: For dependents (spouses and children) of foreign employees or Myanmar nationals.
Religious: For foreigners engaging in religious activities, for purposes such as joining a monastery, conducting religious research, or teaching in Myanmar.
Student: For foreigners studying in Myanmar, issued for the duration of the study program, with extensions available based on the length of the course.
Diplomatic: Issued to foreign diplomats and their families, allowing long-term stays for official duties in Myanmar, typically valid for the duration of the diplomatic assignment.
Journalist: For accredited foreign journalists and media personnel, allowing long-term stay for professional reporting and media activities.

Most countries need to apply for such travel documents before entering Myanmar, as the Burmese Government has only given free access to 8 nationalities: Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, Philippines, Thailand, Singapore and Vietnam.
