Designed for those who wish to enter Laos for leisure, sightseeing, or visiting friends and family:
- Validity: Usually valid for entering Laos within 2 months from the date of issue.
- Duration: Once you enter Laos, you can stay for up to 30 days.
- Extension: It’s possible to apply for an extension of stay for another 30 days after arrival, which can be granted twice, making the total potential duration of stay up to 90 days.

- Photograph taken within the last six months
Long-term Documents:
Business: For foreigners employed by a company registered in Laos, allowing for long-term stays of up to 12 months with the possibility of extension.
Investor: For foreign investors with registered investments in Laos, allows long-term stays and is renewable annually.
Dependent: For family members (spouse and children) of foreign nationals working or residing in Laos.
Diplomatic: Issued to diplomats and their family members for long-term stays in Laos during their official assignments.
Student: For foreign students studying in Laos at recognized educational institutions, typically valid for the duration of the study program and extendable annually.
Retirement: Available to foreigners aged 60 and above who wish to retire in Laos, with requirements for proof of financial stability.
Volunteer: For foreigners in volunteer roles in Laos, valid for up to 12 months and renewable based on the length of the assignment.
